How to brew perfact Café Latté – Recipe

cafe latte brew process

CaféLatté, or just Latté” is one of the most well known coffee based drinks in the world. It literally translates to “coffee with milk “. You’ve most definitely heard about or seen this delicious espresso and milk concoction that originates in Italy. Although, it can be easily mistaken for the well-adored cappuccino- there are some key differences that we think every coffee connoisseur should know about.

A café latté is essentially about 1/3 espresso and 2/3 steamed milk with a 5mm layer of foamed milk that floats gracefully on top. The cappuccino on the other hand is designed in a 1:1:1 ratio- with equal parts espresso, milk and foam. Whether you’re a cappuccino or a latté fanatic depends on what kind of person you are. Do you like your drink milkier? Foamier? Stronger?

Surprisingly however, the latté became of much popularity in North America. In fact- if you ever find yourself in Italy- you will see the Italians more often sitting down and sipping gracefully on a shot of espresso than a milkylatté.

So what is it about the latté, It’s comforting. Close your eyes for a second and imagine snuggling up with a blanket and a warm latte on a rainy day. Or imagine yourself at a coffee shop with your closest friends catching up over a latte. You can’t quite picture this with an espresso –now can you? A latté is social- its meant to take time to drink and many of us indulge in it for that reason.
